Llanidloes Town History & Honours
|
| Llanidloes
Town can trace its
history back to 1875 and as such is one of the oldest established clubs
in Wales. The Welsh Amateur Cup was won in 1922 and then again in 1964 which was a tremedous achievement in both eras. When the newly formed League of Wales was launched in 1992 Llanidloes were founder members but lasted only one season before dropping into the Cymru Alliance. Five years were spent in the Cymru Allaince before another drop, this time to the Spar Mid Wales in 1999. Nine years later another relegation - this time to the Montgomery League. This was rock bottom as far as the club was concerned. The fightback began at the end of the 2009-10 season with the Montgomery League championship and a return to the Spar Mid Wales League. After a period of consolidation Llanidloes won the Spar Mid Wales League at the end of the 2012-13 season with an incredible 132 goals scored in the process. |
