  Mold Alexandra FC
  History & Honours
There have been football teams in Mold since 1878 when a Mold side was defeated 8-1 in the first round of the Welsh Cup by Llangollen.  Various Mold sides competed in the Welsh Cup prior to the First World War in 1914, bearing such names as Mold Fc, Mold Alyn Stars, Mold Red Star, Flintshire Amateurs and Mold Town.
However the present club can trace its lineage back to 1929 when Mold Alexandra won the North Wales Coast FA Junior Cup defeating Glasinfryn at Colwyn Bay.
In 1937 Mold Alex moved into The West Cheshire League and in 1947 became founder members of The Welsh National League Wrexham Area where they remained for more than 40 years.
Forward in time to the 1980s and Mold enjoyed a prosperous period.  The Welsh National League Premier Divison Championship was won in 1986, 87 and 90, whilst the NEWFA Challenge Cup was claimed in 1986, 87 and 88.
1990 heralded a major change in welsh football with the creation of The Cymru Alliance and The Alex were once more founder members.  In 1992 the national League of Wales was established and Mold were founder members in the highest level of domestic football.  At once the club was thrown into confusion when Alyn Park was deemed unsuitable following one fixture against the newly formed Inter Cardiff.  Thankfully Alex were re-instated after some rapid improvements were carried out with the assistance of landlords Synthite.
After finishing 13th and 14th (out of 20) Mold struggled in the third season and were relegated in 1995 after coming 19th, one place above Maesteg.  However during this time came 5-0 away wins at Llansantffraid and a record 5-1 home win over Llanelli.  During this time striker Stuart Rain made a club record 76 LoW appearances scoring 32 goals.
Mold then completed three seasons in the Cymru Alliance but were then relegated to The Welsh National League in 1998 after finishing bottom of the nineteen clubs.
Back into the local league Mold began to rebuild - on and off the field - and deservedly regained their Cymru Alliance spot in 2002 after winning The Welsh National League in a season which saw top scorer Chris Boulton sold to Bangor City for a four figure fee.
Alex finished 17th in the CA in 2005 and were relegated to the WNL, but under the guidance of manager Danny Seamarks regained their league status in 2008 after champions Brymbo were unable to accept promotion.
