Flint Town United  History & Honours
Flint were formed in 1886 but did not become Flint Town until after the First World War.  Amongst the first trophies won was The North Wales Amateur Cup in 1910.  The nickname "The Silkmen" was adopted due to the large number of textile industries in the area.  In particular after 1908 when British Glanztoff Manufacturing opened their man-made fibre factory in Flint.
Flint Town were amongst the early founders of the Welsh League in the 1920s and reached the Welsh Cup Final in 1925, losing 3-1 to Wrexham.  Flint won The North Wales Amateur Cup again in 1931, 1932 and 1935.
After the Second War in 1946 the club changed to the current name of Flint Town United and two years later won the Welsh Amateur Cup. The club found success in the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1947 and in 1954 they won the Welsh Cup beating Chester 2-0 in the Final.  The Fifties also saw success in the Welsh League (North) with the championship won in 1955, 1956 and 1957.
In the 1960s Flint had a proud reputation in youth football, to the extent that United won The Welsh Youth Cup in 1965 and were losing finalists in 1967.
In 1990-91 Flint won the newly formed Cymru Alliance and, as runners up in 1991-92 went on to be founder members of the LoW in 1992-93.  After finishing as high as fourth in 1994 Flint were relegated in 1998 and joined the Cymru Alliance, boasting one of - if not the - best stadium and facilities in the league.
The ground is now Cae Castell, a purpose built stadium close to Flint Castle on the foreshore along the Dee Estuary.  In 1994 United had moved from Holywell Road to allow the building of a shopping centre.
In 1999 United were relegated from the Welsh Premier to the Cymru Alliance and after a period of indifference have now managed three successive third place finishes.  With one of the better grounds in the league, a return to the national league could be just around the corner.

Manager:  Paul Davies
Paul cut his managerial teeth in local Sunday football and is now in his fourth season as United manager.
He won the September 2009 Manager of The Month award for the Cymru Alliance as his side set our their title challenge. Flint finished in second place behind Llangefni whom they clattered 5-1 at Cae Y Castell and Davies could feel proud of guiding the club to its highest position since rejoining the CA in 2000.
