Mynydd Isa History &
Honours

| Football in Mynydd Isa
dates back pre war to 1931 with membership of the Flintshire Amateur
League Division Two and playing against the likes of Flint Alex,
Shotton Villa, Holywell Celtic, Primrose Hill Ath, Mold Pentre Ath,
Connahs Quay Am, Ewloe Rangers, Shotton Ath, Buckley Rovers and Bagillt
Rangers. At the end of the 1930s the club moved into the Flintshire Junior League and wins in the Challenge Cup and League Cup. The next recorded history then finds Mynydd Isa playing in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) and by the early nineties the club were playing the First Division although finishing towards the bottom of the table. In 1995 Mynydd Isa were relegated to Division Two and spent two seasons at this lower level until winning promotion in 1997. and the Horace Wynne Cup in 1999. After five years in Division One the title was won and promotion to the Premier Division in 2002. The Horace Wynne Cup was also won in 2002. The season 2004/05 saw Mynydd Isa reach the semi final of the NEWFA Cup losing to Bala Town. In 2006 Mynydd Isa won the Welsh National League Premier Division and earned promotion to the Cymru Alliance for the first time in their history - just one step away from the national league Welsh Premiership. |
