| Cefn Albion History & Honours |
| The club was formed as recently as 2013 and started playing in 2014-15 in the North East Wales League. There has though been football played in Cefn Mawr for well over a hundred years and in 1967 a club called Cefn Albion was established in the village. This club was to merge with The Druids in 1982 to form Cefn Druids (Ruabon Druids date back to 1872). (Local to the area there is a club called FC Cefn which was formed as Cefn United in 1999) At first Cefn Albion games were played on the MUGA in Cefn Mawr, a grass pitch in the village, but in 2017 Albion moved into a ground share with Cefn Druids and now play home first team games at The Rock. Reserve matches are still played at the MUGA. Successive promotions took the club from the North East Wales League to the third tier of Welsh football, the Welsh National League. Only two steps away from the Welsh Premier. |
