Llangollen is located in the Dee Valley some ten miles south west of Wrexham.
It can be approached along the A5, and from either direction turn at the traffic lights (right or left depending on approach - there is only direction possible) down the main street and over the river bridge.
Immediately turn right - towards Ruabon - and then left up a steep hill. If you have come from Ruabon turn right just before the river bridge (which is to your left). Up this short but steep hill, past the school and leisure centre, the ground is half a mile along this road on the left.

Llangollen Town Town History & Honours

Llangollen Football Club was formed as early as 1908 but clubs such as Arosfa and Berwyn Rangers were the pioneers of football in the Vale of Llangollen at the turn of the century. The present club came to prominence in the 1950's and enjoyed success until the mid seventies, when a decline seems to have set in after winning the North East Wales Cup in 1974, more than 20 years elapsed before they won the next real honours. During it's heyday the Club was managed by Scotsman Jim Birrell and retained his connections with the club until 1992 when along with other committee members resigned from the club.

It was under the guidance of ex-player Chris Tobin, who took over the reigns in 1992, that the club reached the final of the Horace Wynne Cup in his first season in charge losing to Saltney after extra time. Three years later, they reached the final of the same cup and won by defeating Brickfield Rangers, they also won the Division One League Cup defeating Bala Town in the Final and gained promotion back to the Premier Division.

The 1999 / 2000 season - The previous season seen Llangollen FC struggling near the bottom of both Division's. At the AGM, Chris Tobin stepped down as first team Manager and was replaced by Kevin Richards. Kevin had worked as Chris' no.2 for a few years and realised the potential the club had within it's ranks. One of Kevin's first signings was Goalkeeper Simon Clemence who brought a vast amount of experience to the team. After finishing in 6th position in the league, the highlight of the season was when Llangollen won the Premier Division League Cup defeating Penley in the Final 3-1.
