Road Llangefni Anglesey North Wales |
Llangefni
is a busy market town near the centre of the Isle of Anglesey in, or
rather off, North Wales. Leave the A55 at the Llangefni junction and before entering the town turn right and through the industrial estate. Turn right at the end of this road, pass Kwik Save on your left and KJ Ford Garage on your right. Turn left at the next junction and follow the road through the estate for half a mile, the ground is on your left. |

Llangefni Town History & Honours |
| The present clubs was founded in 1897, however records
show the existence of a Llangefni based chapel team several years
earlier than this date. Llangefni played their football on the
Isle of Anglesey for many years, and were were founder members of the
Anglesey League. In 1988 the club won promotion to the Gwynedd League and in that first season won The League Championship, The Gwynedd Cup and The Eryri Shield. The following season they repeated the feat! In 1990 Llangefni gained another promotion to The Welsh Alliance League and again won three trophies, namely the League Championship, The Barritt Cup and The Alves Cup. The Barritt Cup was won outright after further successes in 1991, 1992 and 1993, and in 1994 won The Cookson Cup. In 1992 Llangefni were the first Anglesey team to win the Welsh Intermediate Trophy. Other honours included winning the Welsh Alliance League Championship four times in between 1991 and 1999. One of the most recent of these saw the club step up to the Cymru Alliance in 1999, two years after the appointment of the experienced Brian Owen as manager. The target for all concerned is Welsh Premiership status following in the footsteps of local rivals Cemaes Bay. However the most recent development saw Llangefni merge with neighbours Glantraeth and adopt the new name Llangefni Glantraeth. However after one season both parties agreed to a separation which allowed 'Cefni to continue in the Cymru Alliance. Two successive second place positions in 2001 and 2002 confirmed Llangefni's position as the leading club on Anglesey and as serious contenders for LoW status, with the club reverting to the name Llangefni Town for the 2002-03 season. As the 2003-04 season drew to a close Llangefni officials were completing work on the floodlights which would represent a huge step towards Welsh Premiership standards. These were duly used for the first time in September 2004. In 2006 the club launched its most successful season yet under the management of the hugely experienced Adie Jones. After a disappointing start the points flooded in and Llangefni won the Cymru Alliance championship and with it promotion to the Welsh Premier. Unhappily the tilt at the top level only lasted one season but - with considerable ground improvements completed - the club are well place for another challenge in the near future. |

Gus took over the managerial reigns at Talwrn Road after the
sudden departure of Liverpool
based boss Derek Kevan. Despite his best efforts - and some stirling performances as matches ran out - he was unable to keep Llangefni in the Welsh Premier, but with Viv Williams and Mike Innes amongst his support staff he must be optimistic about a swift return. |
